Excellence in Pharmacy Award Program
Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc., has been committed to the highest standards of quality in research and development,
manufacturing and distribution, and customer service since 1961. This commitment has been extended into pharmacy
education through our annual EXCELLENCE IN PHARMACY AWARD. Since 1985, The EXCELLENCE IN PHARMACY AWARD has
honored a baccalaureate or entry level Pharm.D. graduate from each pharmacy school for their academic
achievement and professional motivation.
PROGRAM PROCEDURES
In early February of each year an EXCELLENCE IN PHARMACY AWARD program announcement is sent to Deans
of all colleges/schools of pharmacy in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
In this program announcement, the individual college/school of pharmacy is asked to select one
(1) award recipient from their college/school who best meets the predetermined selection criteria.
The selection process is usually coordinated through the awards committee of the individual college/school of pharmacy.
This is not a competitive program in which pharmacy students make direct application.
Application forms are not available upon request. Individual colleges/schools of pharmacy
receive program materials and award criteria automatically on an annual basis. They then select
the award recipients for their particular school from the pool of students they determine to be eligible for the award.
Once an award recipient has been selected, the college/school of pharmacy completes and submits the
data sheet provided to the professional relations consultant of Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc.
A choice of awards is available. The college/school of pharmacy (not the award recipient) may choose either:
- A $250 cash award or
- A copy of the loose leaf edition of Drug Interactions Facts and one (1) year of quarterly update service beginning June 1.
All recipients receive a personalized framed certificate acknowledging their achievement.
Most colleges/schools of pharmacy present the Mylan Pharmaceuticals EXCELLENCE IN PHARMACY AWARD at a formal awards ceremony in the spring of each year.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Criteria by which the individual college/school of pharmacy select the recipient of the Mylan Pharmaceuticals EXCELLENCE IN PHARMACY AWARD are as follows:
The recipient shall be a 5th or 6th year student in a baccalaureate or entry level Pharm.D program
of the college/school of pharmacy.
The recipient must be in the top 25 percent of his/her class academically.
The recipient shall demonstrate high professional motivation and the intent to enter practice upon graduation.
Students demonstrating superior proficiency in the provision of drug information services
may be given special consideration providing all other criteria are met.
